How to book in 64-bit mode in Snow Leopard?

Hello, It is easy to boot your Mac in 64-bit kernel mode if your hardware supports it. How to check it? Here is the solution by http://tinyurl.com/kvmpdc:

Is your Mac capable of booting in 64-bit mode? To find out, launch Terminal and enter the following command:
ioreg -l -p IODeviceTree | grep firmware-abi
If the result you see is:
“firmware-abi” = <“EFI64”>
then congratulations! Your Mac can boot in 64-bit mode! To do so, press and hold the 6 and 4 keys during boot.

To change this option permanently, add the string, ‘arch=x86_64′, to the ‘Kernel Flags’ key in “/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist”

Keep in mind however, that it might cause problems if you have non 64-bit kernel extensions and third party software. Here is even more about it: http://tinyurl.com/lzyspe
